Ideas to keep us busy and happy, while at home// social distancing but still loving life
This time is hard, I am with you on that 100% but we can still try to make the best of it and look for the good and try our best to stay positive. I want to give you lots of ideas to stay busy, whether you’re home by yourself or with family, hopefully this will help and put a smile on your face 🙂
SELF CARE: Self care is huge. I cannot stress this enough. Being alone for such a long period of time can cause high anxiety and even depression if you are not working on yourself and finding happiness within. Buy moisturizing face masks, take bubble baths, do long facial routines in the morning, self tan, give yourself a makeover, try different hair styles, paint your nails, buy a foot massager that doubles as a foot bath, exercise, take care of yourself and dress up for the day (this will make you feel so much better) light your favorite candle, diffuse your favorite blend, read a book, call your favorite person, text 5 friends a day and let them know you love them & are thinking about them, meditate, write goals,
CRAFTS: create a vision board you always dreamed of, order an adult coloring book and relax, start a gratitude list, painting, painting pots, making cards for your friends, make necklaces, make garland, make candles if you can purchase all the items online, create your favorite diffuser blends, create rollers with all your fav oils, print off lots of pictures and scrapbook
PLAYTIME WITH KIDS: indoor picnic and forts, pretend school, take a walk and play in your yard if you can, slip and slide, water balloons, sidewalk chalk, bouncy balls, bubbles, dance parties, lots of board games and card games, slime making, baking, rock decorating, movie nights, puzzles, class work on YouTube, Homer app, buy a microphone and start a band with your kids, make fun dance videos like TikTok, Make a routine that keeps a healthy balance,
HOBBIES: learn a new language, learn how to sew online with free YouTube videos, learn how to cook all different things from YouTube, play an instrument, write an ebook, plan your future vacation, weed your garden, plant some fruit and veggies, take an online class, write poems, write songs, practice drawing, play with your pets,
NETFLIX SHOWS & MOVIES: A lot of these are from you all! Enjoy! Gilmore Girls, Schitt’s Creek, Outlander, Jane the Virgin (not family friendly but everyone is saying it’s good) Love is Blind, Hart of Dixie, Longmire, Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, Ozark, You (that’s my fav lol) The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Workin’ Moms, Crown,
Ps let me know if we should add more in the comments!
BOOKS TO READ: The Secret, Where The Crawdads Sing, The Woman’s Murderer Club by James Patterson, Harry Potter, The Joyful Life Magazine, The Dream Daughter, Troublesome Creek, the Bible, Secrets of a Charmed life, Untamed, City of Girls, Yellow Star, Get out of Your Head, Mom Up, The Worst Hard Time, Educated, The Handmaid’s Tail, The Necklace, Little Fires Everywhere, Jessica Simpson, American Dirt,
GET ORGANIZED: unsubscribe to a ton of emails you don’t want, edit your entire inbox, go through all old contacts and delete, create a daily routine to help keep you sane and feel like you are actually accomplishing something, go through your pantry and organize, go through all clothes that don’t fit and start a donation pile, go through kitchen items you don’t use and start a donation pile, declutter one room at a time, backup your computer, sync your iCloud, delete extra pics on your phone, develop lots of pics and frame them, clean under your bed, make a pile of giveaways to your friends, clean your entire bathroom, I can go on and on but organization and cleanliness creates a super happy home, clutter is bad lol!
STAY CONNECTED: social distancing is a whole other world and to help you feel not so isolated – text 5 friends/ family members and check on them, tell them you love them, write actual letters or emails to friends, send ecards or even real cards if you have a way to send to the post office or stamps at home, FaceTime your loves as much as possible, spend more time on instagram than Facebook because it’s a much more positive place, comment on pictures you love and start conversations with new people, follow new instagram accounts and get inspired, bounce ideas off of your friends and maybe even dream up a new business, make time to talk everyday to at least a few people
STAY ACTIVE: dancing, working out from home (there are a ton of home work out videos on YouTube that are free) I have “get the mirror” and love it. Let me know if you have questions on that, create a workout routine, do pushups and planks every day, order some weights, walk with your family if possible, challenge your friends on apple watches to burn calories with them, do a crazy amount of jumping jacks
I am going to post some of my favorite recipes soon! Cooking and baking has always been a great way for us to stay busy and keep us happy.
Hope you love all the ideas and please share with your friends!
