Hey friends! I wanted to do a fun, more light-hearted kind of post after last week’s post on grief. Speaking of that post, thank you so much for all the love and support. I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share all of that because I know it can be a major downer, but it actually felt really good to put it out there. So anyway, thank you!
On to the fun things! Today is all about six things giving me joy right now – let’s get started!
Time with family
If my aunt’s passing and everything that has happened in general in the last seven months has taught me anything, it’s that family is everything. I’ve really been trying to prioritize time with Orvil and the kids lately and it’s made my heart so full. We’ve had a great fall season going to the pumpkin patch, cooking together at home and cozying up and watching all the movies. If it feels like I’ve maybe been on Instagram less or not sharing as much as usual, this is why. I’ve just realized that I don’t want to miss a thing, especially with Birdie at an age where she’s changing every single day. Watching Harper and Blake with her is my favorite thing to do and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
Cozy fall vibes
Y’all know fall is my thing when it comes to home decor and making our home extra cozy is one of my all-time favorite things to do. And I’m SO glad we still got to go to the pumpkin patch this year and experience that with the kids. Fall doesn’t feel complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch, am I right? I also had a lot of fun with our front porch this year. You can see it here if you missed it!
Pretty accent mirrors
OK, y’all have probably heard enough about mirrors lately because I just gave this one away on IG and have also been obsessing over the new one in our entryway, but they’re honestly one of my favorite ways to add light and personality to any space. I actually wrote a whole post about accent mirrors here and linked to so many good ones! Here are a few favorites from the post:
Small moments to myself
There aren’t a ton of these at the moment, but like I mentioned in this post about staying productive when you have kids, I like to get up before everyone else and take a few minutes to myself. I’m also really into finding a few moments of selfcare. Sometimes I think people see the word “selfcare” and think it means like s six-hour bath but to me, it just means a few minutes of quiet when maybe I workout or use this amazing little face roller.
Home updates
We’re slowly but surely continuing to make updates to this old farmhouse of ours and our most recent project was the bathroom. You can see it here! It was such a great facelift for a space our whole family uses constantly. We also recently made a DIY desk – a fun project for Orvil to execute while I gave instructions LOL.
Painting
I’ve teased this a bit on Instagram, and some of y’all might now know this, but before this crazy influencer world, I was actually a full-time artist in Nashville. It feels like a hundred years ago but I loved it so much. Well, I’ve been wanting to get back into painting and I’ve spent the last several months doing just that and it’s been amazing. I have a whole collection I’ve been working on and I’ll be launching it on my website soon for purchase! I’m so nervous and excited for this and I hope y’all love what I’ve been working on.
What’s bringing you joy right? I want to know, so tell me in the comments!
Martha
I think you left off putting those beautiful bows on Birdie’s-sweet little head. She is a seriously beautiful baby!
🧡🤍🧡🤍 Her eyes are like warm chocolate chips.
